To coincide with the Left Coast Eisteddfod, Portland, Central Library will be holding a Welsh Library Month in August.
Authors Niall Griffiths, Penny Simpson and Chris Keil will be presenting a reading and Q&A session at the library. Copies of their works will be available for purchase.
Born in Liverpool in 1966, Niall Griffiths has lived in mid-Wales for well over a decade. Six novels and counting, plus too many radio plays, short stories, travel pieces and reviews to count. His latest novel is "Runt" (2006).
Penny Simpson is a former opera house cleaner, journalist and winner of Barclays/ TMA Critic of the Year and 2007 Rhys Davies award. She is alsoHead of Press at Welsh National Opera in Cardiff. She will be reading from her latest work "The Banquet of Esther Rosenbaum".
Chris Keil, an accomplished linguist, lectures worldwide and has published on dissonant heritage and traumatic memory at Auschwitz. He lives in Carmarthenshire, west Wales, and currently lectures at Trinity College, Carmarthen. "Liminal" is his second novel."
There will be a display in the 1st floor of works by Welsh authors that are available from the library together with short reviews. There will also be a number of events in the weeks leading up to Eisteddfod Saturday on August 22, 2009.
